Chris Yeung Fund

Shining a spotlight on mental health.

Established in 2016, the Chris Yeung Fund aims to raise awareness of and provide financial support to families within the College community where the father is suffering mental illness.

Chris Yeung completed Year 12 at St Patrick’s College in 1981 but developed a mental illness in his 20s which manifested in periods of acute psychosis. He battled his illness for decades before taking his own life in 2015.

Chris’ mates formed the Chris Yeung Fund to enable financial, personal, and a holistic support structure for fathers of students from St Patrick’s College who may be experiencing a mental health illness that may place their son’s education at risk, and to broaden awareness of men’s mental health within the community.

The fund is managed by the SPC Foundation and forms part of the College’s wider SPC Care initiative. Its major fundraisers include the OCA Golf Day and MENtal Brekky.
