Football
The flagship sport of the College is the Australian Football program.
Our Coordinator of Football, Mr Howard Clark, oversees the program whilst Mr Gavin Webb coaches the 1st XVIII team.
Since 2007, over a three-year cycle, the program has toured Ireland, Darwin and offers an insightful week long camp in Melbourne. Each winter season, around 15 football teams take to the fields of Ballarat representing the College at Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels.
The bulk of these matches are played during Term 2, with the College also offering an in-house junior competition for Year 7 students played on a Friday evening.
The College is also recognised as having one of the leading programs in the nation, having been the educated home of 115 VFL/AFL listed players including Brownlow medallists John James (Carlton) and Brian Gleeson (St Kilda) and modern day players Brett Bewley (Fremantle), Liam Duggan (West Coast Eagles), Nathan Brown (St Kilda), Dan Butler (St Kilda), Tom and Oscar McDonald (Melbourne), Brad and Matthew Crouch (Adelaide), Jacob Hopper (Greater Western Sydney) and Daniel Rioli (Richmond) whilst Shane McInerney is the VFL/AFL record holder for having umpired the most Senior games (500).
In 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 the College won the Herald Sun Shield, the state’s premier football competition as well as the Ballarat Association Schools competition. It was a record-breaking performance as no school had previously ever won six consecutive Herald Sun Shields.

The John James Medal Evening is in Term 3 each year to acknowledge and celebrate the Football achievements of our boys.
