Where are they now – Elliott Lamb (SPC 2013-18)
April 3, 2023
The College recently reconnected with Old Collegian Elliott Lamb (SPC 2013-18) who is currently working closely with our Performing Arts Centre, currently under construction. Elliott tells us more about his life since finishing school and some of his favourite memories as a student at SPC.
Where has life taken you since leaving SPC?
I’m still local to Ballarat but I have spent four years travelling to Melbourne completing my degree at RMIT.
Can you please tell us about your connection with the College’s new Performing Arts Centre currently under construction?
I’m working on the project as a graduate, mostly working in contract administration and helping look after the finances and procurement but also floating between the site and project management principles.
How do you feel about working on this particular project?
It’s great to be back at St Pat’s and working on a great project for the school and broader Ballarat.
Do you have family ties with SPC?
I have no real family ties but had an older brother and a couple of cousins at the College around the same period as I was.
What are your fondest memories of your time at St Patrick’s College?
I loved going through Year 12 with close mates. I also enjoyed playing in a couple of Herald Sun Shield finals and boat race is also hard to leave unmentioned.
Which teacher from your time at SPC had the greatest impact on you? Why?
I could mention many but mainly the likes of Joe Carmody, Howard Clark etc. All great teachers (and people) but also helped shape us for life beyond school.
How has your education shaped your professional life?
St Pat’s set me up well to get into my desired course and industry. In particular the communication and interpersonal skills I learnt while at SPC have helped me forge strong relationships with co-workers and sub-contractors which is an important aspect in the construction industry and management.
How has your time at SPC shaped your personal values and your family life?
As mentioned previously my time at SPC has helped set up and shape life beyond school, which extends to personal values and family life. I’m sure most others who spent their developing years here would agree.
If you could pass on one message to the students of today, what would it be?
I would say to hang around and finish Year 12. Also to enjoy the time with your friends and get involved with as many extracurricular activities as you can.
