Where are they now – Alex Guevara (SPC 2016-21)
September 2, 2024
The College recently reconnected with Old Collegian and talented saxophonist Alex Guevara (SPC 2016-21) who was revealed as a mystery guest performer at the College’s recent SPC in Concert musical extravaganza in the new Performing Arts Centre.
Where has life taken you since leaving SPC?
Since graduating in 2021, I have continued to pursue study at the University of Melbourne, studying a Bachelor of Science (Major in Psychology) and a Diploma in Music (Saxophone).
Which teacher from your time at SPC had the greatest impact on you? Why?
All my teachers at SPC have been integral in my journey throughout my education and development. I give a special thanks to all my music and psychology teachers, especially Mr Tim Snibson and Mrs Kathryn Ward, who both in their own unique ways, have influenced my pathway and motivation in ways I could never be grateful enough for.
How has your time at SPC shaped your personal values and your family life?
In my recent performance at SPC, I was reminded of the core values of the school, being Faith, Tradition, Excellence and Joy. I was able to reflect and realise, despite the absence of fully conscious relishing of these values, they have remained core pillars in every part of my life.
If you could pass on one message to the students of today, what would it be?
As for a message to the boys: be limitless. Live limitless in the limiting world we live in.
