2015 Edmund Rice Day
May 4, 2015
Ballarat’s infamous weather – has intervened to force the postponement of today’s Edmund Rice Day Walkathon.
With rain, hail and freezing temperatures forecast, teachers made the decision to postpone the walkathon and instead revert to normal classes for much of the day.
Deputy Headmaster Jon Franzin said further details would be announced this week about when the Walkathon would be rescheduled.
Despite the disappointment of today’s weather other activities to celebrate Edmund Rice Day are proceeding.
Students and staff gathered for Mass this morning in the Br W.T O’Malley Sports Centre. We were very happy to have Old Collegian Fr Justin Driscoll (SPC 1981-82) celebrate Mass with us.
The College then reconvened in the afternoon for the annual St Pat’s Has Talent quest- where students (and some staff) take to the stage to showcase their amazing abilities.
It takes some courage to perform in front of 1430 students plus a couple of hundred staff, but the boys on display today handled the pressure with aplomb.
Congratulations to Year 11 student Brad Simpson who took home top honours after a stunning solo performance.
