Middle School Report – May 26, 2016
May 25, 2016
We have passed the half way mark of Term Two and life in the Middle School continues to be extremely busy for both staff and students. As the boys are finishing their last assessments in their respective subjects, they should be now vigorously revising their work so that they can do their very best in the upcoming end of semester examinations. A positive end to the term both inside and outside the classroom would be the ideal way for the students to embark on their upcoming June holidays.
Semester One Exams
The timetable for the end of semester exams has now been finalised. Please see the timetable below in addition to a list of required materials the boys will need to bring with them for their exams by subject. Study routines and revision should now be well underway and the teaching staff will be issuing the required revision materials as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the end of semester examinations, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College.

Melbourne Experience Update
With the Melbourne Experience only a few weeks away, I encourage all students and parents to have a comprehensive look over the information which has been provided by the Pastoral Care Tutors. Train timetables, maps of the activity locations as well as accommodation for those students who will be staying in Melbourne should now be organised. If possible, I encourage the students to familiarize themselves with their class itinerary, especially the travel arrangements to and from their respective destinations. We are all looking forward to this rewarding experience for the boys. If you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Experience Coordinator Mrs. Ashleigh Giampaolo at the College.
Year 9 Social
Please see below a copy of the Parent Letter sent out regarding the upcoming Year 9 social and subsequent Dance Lessons. I strongly encourage all Middle School students to become involved in this wonderful opportunity with the girls at Loreto College.
YEAR 9 DANCE CLASSES
In Term 3 the Year 9 students will have the opportunity to participate in Ballroom Dancing Classes with Year 9 students from Loreto College.- Classes will be conducted in the Pavilion at St Patrick’s College from 4.00p.m. — 5.00p.m.- Staff from both St Patrick’s College and Loreto College will supervise the students while a professional instructor conducts the lessons.
These classes will commence on Thursday, July 14, 2016 and run from 4.00pm until 5.00pm each Thursday for three weeks (July 14, 21, 28) and one lesson on Monday, 1 August, 2016 4.00pm until 5.00pm.- At the conclusion of the dancing classes, the students are dismissed from the Pavilion and are required to make their own arrangements for transport home.- For the dancing classes the students must wear full school uniform.-
The lessons culminate in a Dance Class Social for participants only on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, from 7.30pm -“ 10.00pm.- The students are expected to dress appropriately for this occasion without going to great expense. Every student who participates in the dancing classes will be expected to attend the Social.
All Year 9 students who wish to participate in the dance classes will be able to.- However, we need to advise the dance instructors of definite numbers by no later than June 9, 2016.- Students whose forms are not returned to the College by June 9 will be unable to participate.- Please note that students must attend 80% of the dance classes to be able to attend the Social.
There is a fee of $25 (GST incl.) for the lessons, which is expected to be paid in advance by cheque or cash at the College shop.- This fee covers the four dancing lessons, the Social and refreshments on the evening of the social.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Ashleigh Giampaolo at the College.
I hope that the exam period is not too stressful for the students and that they finish off what has been a very positive Term Two in the best possible fashion.
Kindest regards,
Mr Ross Wise
