South Street -“ Speech and Drama Competitions
The Royal South Street Speech and Drama Competitions commenced this week and already a number of our boy have had some great success.
In the 14 and Over Shakespearean Recital, Year 12 student Daniel Hillman gave an impressive performance of a monologue from -Julius Caesar- which earned him second place.
In the 14 and Over Character Recital section, a number of our students performed extremely well. Year 11 student James Wait earned a Highly Commended award for his monologue from Tennessee Williams’ -The Glass Menagerie-, Year 12 student Will Lovison earned third place for his portrayal of a George Bernard Shaw piece and Daniel Hillman earned second place for his portray of Douglas from Michael Gow’s -Europe.- Well done to all of the boys who have competed so far and good luck to all of the competitors in sections that have yet to occur.
Legacy Public Speaking
On Thursday August 4, the Legacy Public Speaking competition was held in the Spring Board Room at St Patrick’s College. Max Wakefield and Matthew Duffy both participated in the event and spoke extremely well both in their prepared and impromptu speeches. Matthew Duffy was selected as one of the winners and will go through to compete in the next stage of the competition in Bendigo. Congratulations to both Max and Matthew on their efforts.
