Year 7 boarding available at SPC from 2018

February 14, 2017

In an exciting move next year, St Patrick’s College will be accepting boarders from Year 7.

The new custom-built boarding precinct will house up to 100 students – from Year 7 students through to Year 12.

It will give the College the opportunity to welcome boys from across Australia in numbers -“ and from junior year levels – that haven’t been seen here for decades.

St Patrick’s has provided a -home away from home- for boarding students for well over a century.

The College caters for the educational, pastoral and co-curricular needs of boys from regional, remote and overseas communities.

– At St Patrick’s College, boarders from Year 7 to Year 12 have the opportunity to live, study and play in one of Australia’s premier regional cities.

Our boarders get to participate fully in the life of the College, experience the challenges and rewards of living together within a supported boarding community and develop friendships that last a lifetime.

The new Boarding precinct will be set in the College’s beautiful grounds on the north-west corner in central Ballarat. Boarders will have access to brand new, ultra-modern, spacious, comfortable and, most importantly in Ballarat, warm facilities. They will live as one community, not as three or four separate houses. They will learn, dine, study, play, relax and grow together.

They will enjoy wonderful new amenities, both indoor and outside and form their own vibrant community

Key features of the new boarding precinct include:

  • Three storeys of first-class boarding accommodation for up to 100 students

  • Maximum of two boys in a room

  • Brand new kitchen, laundry and dining facilities

  • Self-contained boarding precinct, providing increased security and sense of community

  • East-west configuration of new building, providing wonderful views over Jo Walter Field and new boarding recreation space

  • Dedicated indoor and outdoor recreation areas for boarding students

  • Refurbished staff accommodation, enabling families to live on site

  • Improved access, via Alfred Street, to kitchen, dining and boarding entrance

  • Upgrading of nearby gardens and entrances to improve overall amenity

  • More structured and safer access for all students to Alfred Street entrances

  • Maintenance of historic, heritage-listed Sturt St streetscape
