VCAL Update – June 22, 2017
June 21, 2017
These last weeks of Term two have seen the Applied Learning boys undertaking practical exams in Occupational Health and Safety Scenarios, in model making, woodwork and in Case Studies of issues for Public Debate.
We were most impressed by the demeanour and commitment of all the boys who were able to attend the Exam Day, and congratulate them on their work. I would like to acknowledge the contribution of the Foundation boys in undertaking a Numeracy/ Work Related Skills task which resulted in an amazing offering of afternoon tea for everyone: Dessert Tacos.
Those boys who have not been able to secure a work placement in the final week, have spent their time most productively undertaking a range of tasks.
I would like to acknowledge the assistance of Mr Joosten, Mr Fitsimons, Mr Earle, Mr Bourke Finn, Ms Clegg, Mr John Sullivan, assisted by Maria Pasquale, James Elford, Anne-Marie Driscoll and Glenys and Janine for implementing our first Applied Learning exams.
The outcomes from the practical sessions are proudly displayed in the Applied Learning Program space, for all to see.
And in other news, we are collecting denim jeans-¦ old, painty, clean, just send them in to the Applied Learning space. Our next PaddyMart offering is fundraising for the RSPCA, and we will be collaborating with Loreto students in the production of custom made pets’ beds, using the denim to make cushions.
AND, if you didn’t see the last Crest Newsletter, Please, Save the Date; September 13, for our first Celebration evening.
