Senior School Report – November 24, 2017
November 23, 2017
Our Year 10’s are looking forward to their University experience on Wednesday November 29.- By now students should have made their selection from Melbourne University, RMIT, Deakin-Geelong and Victoria University-Footscray.- It is hoped that this day will help our young men look further ahead than they otherwise might; to consider courses, careers and life beyond St Patrick’s College.- We are aware that many students do not necessarily see themselves as wanting to go to university however it does them no harm to see what their peers are striving toward or to get a feel for some of the options should they wish to take this path several years after school.
On November 30, our Year 10s start exams.- The efforts they make in preparing for these will set them up for their future successes.- Students who have a clash with another exam need to reschedule with Mr Howard Clark or Mr Matt Taylor before the exam takes place.- Year 10s conclude on December 7.
Year 11s are currently enjoying the Head Start program which concludes at 3:25pm on Tuesday November 28.- In this program they cover some of the content for 2018 and get loaded up with homework for the holidays.- It is most important they get to these classes lest they start the year behind their peers.- Should they miss a session, they need to catch up with their Teacher.-
On Tuesday night we held the VCE Information Night for 2018.- It is encouraging when parents come out to learn about the process and ways in which they can support their sons.- The PowerPoint of this presentation will be loaded onto the school intranet early next week.
On Tuesday November 28 commencing at 11:30 in the O’Malley Gym we will have our Senior Awards Ceremony (for Year 10s and 11s).- At this time, we will recognize many of their fine academic efforts and achievements for 2017. All of our Year 12 students have now finished their VCAA exams.- Our final celebration of their year, the Valedictory Dinner, takes place this evening, Friday, November 24.- Again this promises to be a most enjoyable night as 600 of us gather to enjoy each other’s company and to share a meal together now that the work is behind us.-
