Class of 1993 gather for informal reunion
December 10, 2019
It was great to see several members of the Year 12 Class of 1993 gather at the weekend for an informal reunion at the Freight Bar in Ballarat.
The cohort was rocked recently by the tragic death of Old Collegian Gerald (Ged) O’Sullivan (SPC 1990-93) who was killed in a car accident in Western Australia, leaving behind a heavily pregnant wife and a two year old son, Michael.
Ged’s wife Lauren has since given birth to a healthy little girl, Ita Marie O’Sullivan.
Following Ged’s death the SPC Old Collegian community rallied around the family, helping to raise nearly $40,000, the majority of which will be invested in a trust fund to help pay for the children’s education.
The tragedy also prompted members of the cohort to organise an informal reunion, to commemorate Ged and to reconnect with each other.
Old Collegians traveled from across the state to attend and, by all reports, had a fantastic night.
The Class of 1993 will always hold a special place in the heart of the College, being the graduating year group as the College celebrated its centenary.
