The 2021 College Play: Private Peaceful

The cast and tech crew of the 2021 College Play have been busy preparing for our performance run, Tuesday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 2 at 7pm.

This is one performance you will not want to miss. There is something in this play for everyone and we can’t guarantee there won’t be tears. Ms Allen and Ms Walsh have been fighting them back in rehearsals.

A big thank you to Fred Wallace from the study centre who is leading our team of students in lighting design, we can’t wait to see what they come up with.

An overview of the story: Private Peaceful follows the early life of Tommo Peaceful (played by Jack Madigan), and he is our protagonist. The play alternates back and forth between the present and Tommo’s recollections of the past. We learn about Tommo’s life leading up to the point that he and his brother Charlie Peaceful (played by James Halsall) enlist to fight in the war. This story is about brotherhood, unrequited love and the waste of war.

Ticket information will be released early in Term 2.

 

The 2021 House Theatre Sports Competition

This term we ran our House Theatre Sports Competition, and it was a fantastic show of improvisation skills. Each round the four houses participated in two improv games and our wonderful judges, Mr Mark Stahl, Mrs  Juliette Cavendish and Mr Steven O’Connor, assessed their character, narrative and entertainment factor.

There were some stand-out performances across the board and the following boys received an encouragement award for their efforts: Ted Turnbull-Gent (Keniry House, Year 9), Gabe Bristow (Galvin House, Year 7) and Luke Martin (Ryan House, Year 7).

The 2021 House Theatre Sports winners were Nunan House with their quick wit and consistency in character across the two rounds, congratulations to the boys from Nunan.

St. Pat’s Got Talent

It’s that time of year again where students are asked to start brainstorming, rehearsing and preparing for the annual St Pat’s Got Talent (SPGT). SPGT takes place on Edmund Rice Day which will be Wednesday, May 5 (week 3 of next term). Over the holidays it would be great to start practicing your act, ready for auditions in Week 2 of Term 2.
