Campbell’s badminton brilliance
May 28, 2021
Four students represented St Patrick’s College at the BAS Badminton Singles Championships on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
The SPC representatives were Campbell Gladman, Aden Paxton, Noah Barwick and Thisen Jayasooriya.
It was a large group of competitors this year with 23 boys participating.
Players were split into six pools and played three matches each, with the top of each pool going through to quarter final.
Aden finished top of Pool B and defeated a Damascus College student in the Quarter Final.
Due to being seeded Campbell was automatically through to the semi-final.
It was an SPC vs SPC battle in the semi final with Campbell coming out on top after a well contested second set 21/13 26/24
The final was a thrilling match that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Congratulations to Campbell Gladman for winning the competition with final scores being 18/21 22/20 21/18
A fantastic achievement by Campbell who, as a Year 10 student, will have two more years in the competition.
All four of our St Patrick’s College students are eligible to play again next year.
