Debating – Debating Association of Victoria (DAV) Swannie Award Winner
Congratulations to Patrick Clarke Thomas in Year 12 who was awarded the 2021 Swannie award in the A Grade Ballarat region. The Swannie Awards are named after Alan Swanwick, a long-time member of the DAV and a pioneer of debating in Victoria. “Swannies” are awarded to the speaker in each region and grade who has the highest average speaker score after completing at least three debates during the year. Patrick is a fierce debater who has really excelled this year. Congratulations Pat we are very proud of your achievement.
Public Speaking – the DAV Junior Public Speaking Grand Final
We wish Nicholas Willis Pitt in Year 8 all the best as he prepares to compete in the Grand Final of the DAV Junior Public Speaking Competition later this month. Fifty students from across the state entered this competition with only ten making it through to the grand final. Nick will present a prepared and impromptu speech at the competition which will be held remotely. We wish you the best of luck Nick!
The Performing Arts Department is looking forward to getting back to doing what we love in the coming weeks as we welcome the different year levels back to onsite learning. Drama Club will resume in week 3 on Thursday, October 21 in the Black Box Theatre at lunch time.
