From the Assistant Principal – Staff and Culture
April 1, 2022
by Mr Tom Ferguson, Assistant Principal – Staff and Culture
Thanks to all the parents, carers, students and teachers who participated in the recent rounds of interviews, it is great to see the school alive with community members back in the school corridors without masks!
As you would now know, we have had to have progressive closures of year levels throughout the remainder of this term. Whilst this is not ideal, several factors have contributed to these closures, including, but not limited to, staff shortages of Casual Reliving Teachers (CRT). Most schools are feeling similar pressures, acknowledged by both the Victorian government and Victorian Institute of Teaching who are looking to fast-track approvals for fourth year teaching students to provide CRT relief work, commencing from late Term 2.
A reminder that Term 2 will commence for students on Tuesday, April 26. We will celebrate our ANZAC day ceremony upon our return to school. St. Patrick’s College has an extended history of participation in the ANZAC day parade that occurs on Sturt Street every year, and again we will be a part of this ceremony. Please take the opportunity to see some of our talented musicians in their marching band performance.
Wednesday, April 27, will be our whole school athletics carnival. The carnival is held on the College grounds, this will be the first time we are able to use the redeveloped main oval for a whole-school activity. I look forward to the competition and friendly rivalry the day provides.
I hope your sons have a restful holiday.
