ACC Debating and Drama

On Wednesday, 17 August we took 18 students to Mazenod College for a day of drama and debating. Our Year 10 debaters faced off against three schools across three debates. They made us extremely proud against some tough competition, and although they didn’t win, they impressed with their dedication and effort on the day.

Our drama students took part in a range of different workshops, run by industry professionals. These included circus arts, acting for the camera, and commedia dell’arte. They met students from other ACC schools and made wonderful new connections.

Purton Oratory Competition

On Thursday, 25 August the 81st annual Purton Oratory Competition was held in the KRC.

This highly esteemed event ran in person for the first time since 2019, with two Covid years having forced it into the online world.

It was a fantastic day of public speaking and debate. Each and every competitor should be very proud of their efforts. Especially promising is the number of junior students who are taking up this wonderful opportunity. We look forward to seeing these young speakers grow and develop.

A huge thank you to Old Collegian Patrick Clarke Thomas who was the adjudicator and provided some  astute guidance to the speakers on the day. Special thanks also to the KRC for hosting this event. The winners were:
