We extend our condolences to Paul McCulloch (SPC 1954-57) and their extended family on the passing of his younger brother, Jim McCulloch (SPC 1953-59, PY1960), aged 81, who passed away on 30 August 2024.

Jim, after moving with the family from West Footscray to Ballarat in January 1953 commenced his SPC school life in Grade 6 and continued at the College until 1959 when he completed his Leaving certificate.

On leaving school, he returned to Melbourne and was employed by the AMP Society where he worked until returning to Ballarat with his wife to take up a position in local real estate.

Jim eventually returned again to Melbourne, obtained a Post Graduate degree in Educational Administration, and finished his working life as Bursar at Our Lady of Mercy College in Heidelberg.

Both Jim and his wife Noelene were keen dog handlers and breeders, and during a significant period of their married life were showing Doberman Pinchers in Melbourne and all over Victoria.

Jim was also a longstanding member of the Melbourne Male Voice Welsh Choir until he and Noelene again decided to return to Ballarat to spend their remaining retirement years.

Unfortunately, both suffered ill health after their return to Ballarat, with Noelene pre-deceasing Jim during the Covid restriction period. Both lives were celebrated with Requiem Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Ballarat.

Jim was a member of the Hill Competition’s Treacy House football premiership side in 1959.
