John (Jack) Thomas Maloney (SPC 1944-48, PY1950)

Old Collegian John (Jack) Thomas Maloney (SPC 1944-48, PY1950) sadly passed away on 17 February 2022 in Geelong.
Jack was a boarder from Hopetoun and began his time at SPC in first year and continued his studies through to Leaving. He was active in sport, participating in athletics, football and tennis.

However, it was handball where Jack excelled, being awarded the title of handball champion two years in a row, and missed out on the title another year.

Jack was named handball champion, as published in the 1948-49 College Annual.
Jack was also a handball champion for SPC in 1947.

Jack was the loved husband of Joan and much-loved father of Mary, Patrick, Bernard, Greg (dec), Joanne, Peter and Martin and their families and a much-loved grandfather and great grandfather. His family remembered Jack for “a long and well lived life. Forever remembered with love, gratitude and respect”.
A Funeral Mass was held at St Patrick’s Church in Port Fairy on 1 March 2022.

Jack completed his Leaving Certificate, as pictured in the 1948-49 College Annual.
Jack was a member of the Nunan senior shed football team, as pictured in the 1946 College Annual.
Jack was also a member of the SPC tennis team, as pictured in the 1944-45 College Annual.
Jack was a boarder from Hopetoun and began in first year, as pictured in the 1945 College Annual.
