Australian Mathematics Competition Results
In Term Three, 130 of our bravest and brightest students competed in the Australian Mathematics Competition, conducted by the Australian Mathematics Trust and competed in by over half a million students across Australasia. – Students attempted 30 questions under exam conditions for 75 minutes.- While a small number of the questions assessed some understanding of mathematical concepts and processes, most of the questions and marks are allocated to non-routine problems.- Students are not expected to finish the paper, but are encouraged to attempt as many problems as possible.- Students are marked against other students from the same Year Level as themselves.
Our -Best in School Award- once again went to Matthew Duffy, Year Nine, who was again a Prize winner (top 0.3% of students from his Year Level in the competition).
Another excellent result was achieved by Sean Azzopardi (Year Nine) who also achieved a High Distinction (top 3%).
