The result may not have gone the way we would have hoped, but we are extremely proud of the Boarders and the 1st XVIII football team who represented the College at the 2018 Herald Sun Shield Football Grand Final. Josh Chatfield (12) was named best on ground for SPC, while Jack Tillig (11), Isaac Wareham (11), Fraser Marris (10), Adrian Lawrence (12), Scott Carlin (12) and Lochie Brook-Harrison (12) all had positive impacts on the game. We also acknowledge Howard Clark who announced before the game that it would be his last game as the 1stXVIII Head Coach.

Congratulations to Scott Carlin, Lochie Brook-Harrison and Josh Chatfield who were all invited to train in Melbourne with VFL clubs over this past fortnight. Scott will make his debut with the Werribee VFL team this weekend coming. We wish all of the Boarders well as they continue to pursue their dreams of a career in Football.

Our Yr8 Boarders participated in their year level camps this week to the Edmund Rice -‘Amberley’ facility, located in Lower Plenty on the outskirts of Melbourne. This camp enabled the year 8 Boarders to build strong relationships, encourage critical team work and explore the notion of leadership -“ all while having a lot of fun! A highlight for some of the Boarders was the boomerang throwing and abseiling. Our Yr8 Boarders had a wonderful time, whilst also happy to return to their own beds.

Following on from our EXEAT weekend, we welcomed a new Flexi-boarder to our community, year 8 student, Angus Troop. Angus will board with us while he participates in the SPC Rowing program. Our Flexi Boarding program is providing such a great support to many of our families across our wider College community, if you are interested in exploring Flexi Boarding as an option please contact our Director of Boarding, Mr Mike Silcock (msilcock@stpats.vic.edu.au).

As we approach a busy time for our Senior boarders, we wish them all well as they complete assignments, sit their last SACs and head towards finishing their education at St Patrick’s College. We know that all of our boarders will do their best and look forward to supporting them throughout this busy time. As always we encourage plenty of communication to ensure that we are doing all that we can to help them achieve their potential.

It is also a busy time for our staff. On Monday, 10 September Mike, former Boarding staff member, Daniel Briggs, and College counsellor, Jay Katrak, embark on a week’s tour of the Northern Territory to spend time with many of the families of our remote Indigenous Boarders. This opportunity to connect with our remote families, whilst spending time in the communities many of our Indigenous Boarders come from, will be so powerful in providing the best possible care for our Indigenous Boarders.
