Over the holidays one of our Boarders Alex Kinsman and his father Asher Kinsman took part in hiking the Kokoda Trail as a part of the bi-annual, College trip offered to our students and parents. Whilst the hike itself was tough and very physically demanding both enjoyed the experience, especially as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. We congratulate both for completing the trek.

Over a number of years, the College has created a link with Linden Hall High School in Fukuoka, Japan. One of the benefits of this relationship is that in Term 3 we host two exchange students in Boarding. This term we have welcomed Rinto Morinaga and Masataka Saruwatari both of whom are in Year 9. The boys have settled very well into our Boarding Community and we look forward to giving them a great -‘Aussie Boarding’ experience whilst they are with us.

At the start of this term we welcomed three new GAP Tutors onto staff, who will be a part of our College Community for the next twelve months. Zac Roberts and Arthur Ainley have joined us from the UK and replace Ollie Williamson and Ruan Pretorius as our two Junior GAP Tutors. Josh Weidlich has joined us from South Africa and replaces Macky Steyn as our other Senior GAP Tutor and will work alongside Daniel Lombard. So far they have all settled in well and are looking forward to supporting our Boarders.

Our College’s rugby season resumed this past weekend, as all our teams competed against Xavier College. Despite the tough competition, our 1stXV, Under 16s and Under 13s all recorded wins, however our Under 14s suffered a difficult loss. Our 1stXV remain undefeated for the season and will win the Minor Premiership this weekend with a win over Melbourne Grammar. This has not been achieved in the College’s rugby history. They are also in a strong position as the regular season comes to close in the coming weeks and we move into the finals. Please note that St Pats are hosting the Grand Final day this season and we hope that many of you are able to come and show your support for both the Boarders in our 1stXV and all of the team.

Congratulations must go to our First XVIII side as they have made it through to the Grand Final in the Herald Sun Shield. Last week they defeated Catherine McAuley College Bendigo with a final of score of 37-9. They will now play St Bede’s College, Mentone on August 7th. We wish all our players the best of luck. Unfortunately, our Intermediate side were not able to give the College a -‘double header’.
