Class of 1974 enjoy pre-Christmas get-together in Ballarat

Old Collegians Shane Pianta (SPC 1973-74) and Peter Todd (SPC 1969-74) arranged a Class of 1974 Pre-Christmas get-together, which was held at the Red Lion Hotel in Ballarat on 19 November 2023.

The get-together was for “peer year 1974 students” or any member who graduated or was due to graduate in 1974.

Eleven Old Boys and some partners attended the function with three of the attendees, Chris Bates (SPC 1969-74), Maurice Conway (SPC 1974) and Ray ‘Wobbles’ Walsh (SPC 1972, PY1974), coming together for the first time in nearly 50 years.

Also enjoying the opportunity to reunite were Peter Todd (SPC 1969-74), Mark Bromley (SPC 1969-74), Mark Jolly (SPC 1969-73, PY1974), John Perkins (SPC 1973-74), Tim Fithall (SPC 1969-74), Michael Caligari (SPC 1969-74), John Fitzgerald (SPC 1969-73, PY1974) and Shane Pianta (SPC 1973-74). There were also numerous apologies as well.

Shane Pianta reflected on a wonderful day spent catching up with former classmates.

“Various discussions took place during the afternoon session of the days at SPC and what each has been doing since leaving SPC. Numerous stories were told throughout the afternoon reminiscing of the school days and everyone enjoyed catching up with former school mates. Stories came quickly back about the going on’s at SPC and school trips.

“Each participant at the get-together indicated they are looking forward to our 50^th Year Reunion and want to see as many other PY1974 students attend the reunion.”

We are pleased to confirm the OCA Class Reunion dates for 2024 have now been announced and we look forward to welcoming as many members of the Class of 1974 (including those who graduated or were due to graduate in 1974) to their reunion to be held on Saturday 1 June 2024, at the College’s OCA Pavilion.
