The last weeks of Term 4 2020 – Assessment and Headstart
In recognising the disruption caused by remote learning this year, the VCE Unit 3/4 exams have been rescheduled to occur later in the term. As a consequence, a range of important activities have needed to be rescheduled into a reduced timeframe. This has caused competing demands on students and staff. In order to best manage this time, and the wellbeing of students and staff, the following has been considered:
- Years 10 and 11 will have an assessment week rather than an exam block. Students will be expected to attend school for the duration of this time.
- Headstart (Introduction to VCE Unit 3 and VCE VET and Senior VCAL) has been reduced to five days and will be conducted in Week 9.
Years 7 – 9
Exams will be conducted as per our usual practice during Week 9.
Year 10
The Year 10 exam block will be replaced with a Year 10 Assessment week. All Year 10 students will attend their timetabled classes throughout Week 9 where summative assessment (which may be an exam) will be conducted during class time. However, some students may also have Headstart classes (boys doing a Unit 3/4 subject in Year 11) during this time and Headstart classes will take priority over their Year 10 classes.
Year 11
The Year 11 exam block will be replaced with a Year 11 Assessment week where summative assessment (which may be an exam) will be conducted during class time. All Year 11 students will attend their classes throughout Week 8. They may also have a Unit 3/4 exam during this time in which case they will be excused for study on the day prior to their Unit 3/4 exam. They will also be excused from classes for study prior to their Unit 3/4 exam on the day. If required, students can complete any outstanding Year 11 assessment in their study sessions during Headstart. This will take place for the duration of Week 9 and all 2021 VCE Unit 3/4 and VCE VET students are required to attend all classes for the duration of Week 9.
