It appears the College’s oldest surviving student Des Nolan (SPC 1936-39 (PY1941),- aged 94, has been pipped for the -Oldest Old Boy- honour by Western Australian priest, Fr Joseph Kearney (SPC 1935-39).
We recently learned Fr Kearney, aged 95,- celebrated the 70-year-anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. A Mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Shelley, WA, and Fr Kearney was officially congratulated by Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe for so many years of loyal and dedicated- ministry.
Joseph Kearney- started at St Patrick’s College in Year 8 in 1935 and finished Year 12 in 1939. He was a boarder from Hepburn Springs and was in the Honours Class, attaining honours in Latin, as shown in this- 1939 College Honours Class photo, pictured above.
