Intermediate soccer report, May 5, 2015
May 6, 2015
In cold and slippery conditions after days of sporadic rain, the SPC Intermediate soccer squad took on Ballarat High School on the Shed Oval.-
BHS arrived with only seven players, and five SPC players volunteered to fill the ranks of their depleted squad over both halves and all contributed well to that cause.-
These players were Cade Rieniets, Dil Shah, Jesse Pinches, Riley Cartledge and Ryan Andrew (all received Best and Fairest votes for their good sportsmanship).-
St Pat’s started confidently and dominated the entire game, with the back line in particular showing great improvement on previous weeks.-
Striker Mitch Ralston opened the scoring in the fifth minute, replicating his first goal with a second in the twelfth minute.-
Play from a corner allowed Ryan Andrew to place a textbook header into the BHS goal.-
Liam Wakefield scored our fourth just before half time, taking on the BHS keeper and ‘walking it in’.-
SPC conceded a penalty early in the second half, which was answered by another Liam Wakefield goal courtesy of a great assist by Josh Boehm.-
On-coming striker Eden Huggett answered BHS’s second goal, sealing the win at 6-2.
