Year 8 Camp – Lady Northcote
Last week saw the whole Year 8 cohort, plus 23 staff, venture to Lady Northcote YMCA Camp, near Bacchus Marsh, for two nights. This is the first time SPC has visited this venue for a camp, and what a successful, albeit cold, trip it was. Activities included canoeing, archery, high ropes, leap of faith, hut building, bike riding, giant swing, cooking damper, group initiatives, ultimate frisbee and a range of other outdoor sports. Plenty of fun was had as the boys and staff braved the icy conditions, it certainly was character building! A huge thankyou to all the staff that were present over the three days, particularly to Ms Brianah Walsh and Ms Janelle Spierings (YLC’s) who did a power of work prior to the camp to ensure all went smoothly.
Year 7 Retreats (Invermay Hall)
Year 7 Retreats have successfully been completed this week. I must congratulate all the boys for the way they approached the day. Like all activities and experiences, you need to have an open mind and soak up what is offered. Hopefully some of the “take away’s” from the day will aide in the personal development of the boys. Thank you to Geoff Brodie and Anne -Marie Driscoll for all their work prior to and during the week. Also, a special thanks to the Pastoral Tutor’s and LSO’s who assisted throughout the week.

Exams
Junior School exams commence on Tuesday, June 14, after the long weekend. Boys have been busily preparing of late, as well as finishing off assessments for the majority of other subjects. Studying and completing exams in the Junior and Middle years certainly help the boys as they progress into Senior School. All opportunities like this should be viewed as a great learning challenge, not something to stress or worry about. So please, adopt a growth mindset and learn from the experience.
