Junior School Report

Where has this term gone? That is the question that everyone keeps asking. The fact that life in the Junior School has been so busy explains why the time is going so quickly. The Year 8 Retreats were very successful, thanks must go to the Mission Team and in particular Anne-Marie Driscoll who attended each day with the respective Pastoral Tutors.

Year 8 International Studies Expo was again a raging success, thanks to Amanda Rossato, Laura Fazzalari, Glenda Morris, Matt Miller and of course the boys, who provided wonderful insights into their country of choice. It was well attended by parents and other staff. Congratulations to all. The Year 8 cohort is now fully focused on exam revision.

Our Year 7 Star musicians enjoyed a tour of three local catholic primary schools. Thanks must go to the 45 boys and Ms. Fiona Wilson for the time and effort put in prior to and on the day. It was a great opportunity to showcase the talents of the boys in front of an actual audience. This hed the boys in good stead for the Junior School Presentation Night last night.

The Junior School Exam schedule has been circulated to all students and has been pinned up in classrooms, please see below. Note that the Year 7, 2020 Orientation day is on Tuesday, December 3. No current Year 7’s need to attend school on that day, except class captains, who are assisting staff and the new students. Year 8’s will have normal classes.

Thanks must go to all the Junior School staff who have made such a contribution to the life of the boys in our care. Hopefully your son remembers 2019 fondly and enjoys a safe and happy holiday break.

I would personally like to thank and acknowledge John Richards (long service leave) who has been the Director of the Junior School for 14 years. John has had a huge influence on thousands of students and dozens of staff. I wish John all the best as he continues as a staff member in 2020.
