Book Week During Remote Learning

COVID lockdown sessions continue to challenge all facets of teaching and learning.  The library had been geared to encourage the boys to join in the celebrations of the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book Week, however, we will now look forward to utilizing some of these activities once students are back onsite.  One activity we have been able to adapt to being delivered remotely is the Book Week Quiz.  This may also be an activity that families might like to complete with their boys.  Correct and complete quizzes go into a draw for a “Library Hamper”.  Feel free to spend some time together with your son/s googling the answers and completing the quiz. The quiz can be located via this link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=wNo34NS9fUme95RCl4oWPd9oLVvjEnBLhtrtmptfj5pUOU9LWFVOQ1gyUzZMSDlSV0Y0ODM2MEdMOC4u

Another interesting article for parents to read that may assist them as they navigate the wellbeing of their children during lockdowns is Books offer a healing retreat for youngsters caught up in a pandemicIt refers to how reading books can help young people escape from their sources of stress, find role models in characters, and develop empathy. The author, Margaret Merga, is one of the foremost researchers into the many facets of reading.
