Study skills and exam techniques
Exams. It’s that time of year when we use summative assessment tasks to gauge a student’s academic progress. While it is fair to say that this is not everyone’s favourite activity, there are some things that can be done to lessen the pain. Good study skills help students manage the pressures of exams and enable them to use their revision time effectively.
The State Library of Victoria’s website Ergo offers excellent tips and tricks about study skills and exam techniques for school students. It covers organisational skills, time and stress management as well as information on how to revise and prepare efficiently.
The site also suggests links to other resources relating to study skills. With many sites online offering good advice, it is easy to spend lots of time researching study tips and not actually applying them! We encourage students to become familiar with good study and revision skills by putting them into practice.
As the KRC is open until 5.00 pm from Monday to Thursday, it is a good place for boys to do some extra study before they go home. We wish everyone all the best for their exams.
