Middle School Report
July 23, 2020
Welcome back to the Second Semester of Middle School.
This will be yet again another busy term for all of the boys as they begin their journey in preparation for Year 10 2021 subject selections. Last week our Tuesday Community Service Groups, and this week our Wednesday Community Service Groups, conducted their first 2021 Year 10 Subject Information Sessions. The Information Sessions outlined the boys’ Senior School pathways, with the subject selection process now underway in earnest. This will continue for a further two weeks and culminate with the boys making their online selections.
All of the necessary Year 10 2021 Parent Information was sent on Thursday July 23, so if you have missed anything please advise the College. Further to this, Mr Anthony Meehan also conducted the Year 9 “Morrisby Testing” sessions at the end of last term with all boys in the Middle School; to support their understanding/planning of their futures beyond St Patrick’s College and the subjects required to be studied, to help them achieve this.
Year 10 2021 Parent Subject Selection Interviews will be offered remotely via our MS Teams platform. Mrs Julia Petrov, our Director of Teaching and Learning, has sent an email inviting parents and providing instructions as to how to take up this offer when they assist their son in making his Year 10 2021 subject selections. All of which helps to put the building blocks together to make successful subject choices moving into the Senior School.
I am now in a position to confirm that there will be NO Year 9 Melbourne Experience for the boys in 2020. I am deeply sorry that such a significant aspect of our Year 9 Program is not able to be achieved for your son. We are in the midst of planning for three days, Wednesday September 16 through to Friday September 18 to run a series of Year 9 Challenge Days; to offer the boys somewhat of a replacement for their Melbourne Experience. I can also confirm that we are able to run our Term 4 Grampians camp as planned, as long as we don’t return to a full lockdown situation in regions beyond Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
Regards
Mr Michael Busscher
Director of the Middle School
