Middle School Report – August 3, 2017

Our Social/Dance program continues this week. Our Year 9 students have been enjoying the opportunity to participate in Ballroom Dancing Classes with the Year 9 students from Loreto College.- The remaining class is being conducted in the Pavilion at St Patrick’s College, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Monday August 7.- There will be a culminating -‘Social’ that will be held on Wednesday, August 9, from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. The Social has always been a fantastic night for both staff and students and everyone involved is very much looking forward to sharing in a great night of dancing.

Please Note: The dress code for the Social evening is neat semi-formal; which at a minimum the boys are required to wear dress pants, collared shirt, dress shoes and a tie.

This week has also seen much preparation, on behalf of all boys, to complete all of the necessary tasks required to select their subjects for Year 10 in 2018. Boys are required to obtain signatures and counsel from their current teachers along with making appointments to speak with specialised staff regarding VET, VCAL and School Based Apprenticeship selections. Just a reminder that all of the documentation that is required must be submitted by August 9 to Student Reception.

The Year 9 Retreat will be conducted over two days August 17 and August 18. Half of our Pastoral Care Groups will have their Retreat conducted on the Thursday and the other half of the Pastoral Care Groups will be conducted on the Friday. Pastoral Care Groups will be split in this fashion so that a better atmosphere and less crowding occurs in our Pavilion, thus allowing all boys to better take up their Retreat experience.
