Old Collegians gather for 2019 Christmas Luncheon at the Emerald Hotel
December 10, 2019
A tradition started several years ago by Old Collegians Michael Dowd (SPC 1964-69) and Noel Sheehan (SPC 1964-70) to organise informal quarterly Old Boys lunches continues to gather strength.
On the first Friday of each new season, Michael and Noel invite as many Old Boys as possible to join them for a few drinks and lunch at the Emerald Hotel in Clarendon St, South Melbourne.
There is no agenda for the lunch and there are no formalities, save for a warm and humorous welcoming address. Rather the idea behind the events was to provide a relaxed, casual setting for Old Boys to reminisce on their school days, renew old acquaintances and meet new friends.
Last Friday, December 6, more than 45 Old Collegians gathered for the 2019 Christmas luncheon including several who were attending their first Emerald event.
Among those in attendance were inducted legend and World War II here Laurie Larmer (SPC 1935-40) and former teacher Br John O’Halloran.
Anyone wishing to be invited to future Emerald Hotel functions is urged to provide their contact details to either Michael (mjdowd@hotmail.com) or Noel (noel@stafforgserv.com.au) prior to March., 2020.
