Combined College Production
Last week, our Combined College Production of -Les Miserables- took the stage at Loreto College in the Mary’s Mount Theatre. It was a very busy lead up to opening night with dress rehearsals and technical rehearsals. There was a great sense of excitement and anticipation prior to opening night and the standard of work achieved by all involved in the production was exceptional. Each night, the sold out audiences were highly impressed with the achievements of the cast, crew and orchestra.
I would like to thank Marcella Crowley and all of the staff who were involved for giving the students of St Patrick’s College and Loreto College the opportunity to participate in such a special production. I am sure that in the years to come the students will look back on this experience with a great deal of satisfaction and pride.
Round Four -“ DAV Debating
On Wednesday June 8, the students involved in our Public Speaking and Debating program participated in Round Four of the DAV. The boys in the VCE Grade and C Grade were met with the challenge of secret topics while the boys involved in the D Grade debates continued on with their prepared topics.
The secret topics were revealed an hour prior to the debate for our Year 10, 11 and 12 teams and they prepared very well in the time they had.
In the VCE Grade, our Year 12 team had another win to continue their undefeated season and remain in first place while our Year 11 team had a one point loss. In C Grade, our Year 10 team also had their fourth win of the competition and remain in equal first place while in D Grade, our junior teams continue to develop their skills each round and are achieving some great results.
I would like to thank the staff who coach our debating teams for all of the work they have put in to helping the boys prepare for each debate.
