Performing Arts Report – September 8, 2016

DAV Debating

On Wednesday September 7, the Year 10 and Year 12 debating teams competed in the Octo Finals round of the DAV Finals. The Year 10 team featuring Oscar Grigg, Xavier O’Shea and Ryan Mulheron won their debate against Carey Baptist Grammar School. The Year 12 team featuring James Parini, David O’Doherty and Liam O’Shea also won their debate against Woodleigh School. Both teams will now go on to compete in the Quarter Finals of their divisions on October 12. Well done boys.

2017 Combined College Production

The audition information packs for our 2017 Combined College Production of -West Side Story- will be distributed early next week with auditions to be held early in Term 4.

West Side Story takes the story of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and transports it to modern-day New York City, as two idealistic young lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.
