Reminiscing with David Ranger (SPC 2002-07)
June 20, 2017
Do you recognize this young, smiling St Patrick’s College student from 2007?
He may have been missing from the recent 10-Year Reunion, held at the College last month, but Class of 2007 College Captain David Ranger made sure he was there in spirit, sending a message to his old school mates from thousands of miles away.
David is now living and working in Stockholm, Sweden as a mechanical engineer at a multinational truck and bus producer.
Here is what David had to say to his old classmates, his message shared with them at the recent Class of 2007 reunion.
-What an exciting time of year for the Old Boys; Class- Reunion Season!
-It’s really hard to believe that 10 years have somehow managed to sneak by since our Class of 2007 graduated.
-Tradition, mateship and celebrating the St Patrick’s Community defined and- punctuated my years at the College.- It’s heartening to know the customs will continue to- live on through reunions and the current cohort.
-Unfortunately, I won’t- be able to attend our Class of 2007 Reunion. I’m currently- living and working- in Stockholm, Sweden. As part of my university studies, I completed a semester abroad (in Stockholm) and fell for the place; the people, the nature and their attitude towards academia, work and a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
-I moved here at the end of 2013 and have since been working as a mechanical engineer at Scania- Research and Development, a multinational truck and bus producer.
-I will be forever grateful to St Patrick’s for the education I received during my six years at the College – not only for the knowledge and skills I acquired, but also for the values of fairness and justice that the school stands for.
-It goes without saying that I cherish the lifelong connections made with fellow students and the- staff during my time at St Patrick’s.
-Despite not being- able to be present at the Class of 2007 10-Year Reunion, I will be there in spirit. Please pass on my best wishes to all of my fellow- Old Boys with the hope and expectation that it will be a joyous and memorable reunion!-
