Senior School Report
July 24, 2020
by Director of the Senior School, Mr Hamish McCrum
Students have returned for Semester 2, are enjoying each other’s company and are working well. It is good to see. Our Year 11’s have just been working through their subject choices, which were due today. They will have needed to make their best choices according to what they know now about their capabilities and love for different subjects, and pre-requisites for future pathways. For some of these students, things will change and some of their choices will need to be altered. In most instances these changes can be accommodated. Our Year 10’s are starting this process and again they will be making the best choices they can with what they know at this point in time. Students are encouraged to pick courses which are challenging for them, but not too challenging, and to be keeping Year 12 and beyond in mind as they select their Year 11 subjects. They are encouraged to talk widely and be guided by family and teachers. Getting their selections in on time means that their requests are considered when the subject blockings are done. Again, if changes to their selections need to be made at a later date, these will be accommodated where possible.
In these unusual times, all students are encouraged to keep up to date with their school work. They are also encouraged to practice good personal hygiene and social distancing in school and elsewhere.
