SPC Tour of Ireland – Days 1 & 2 After traveling for 30 hours the boys fully embraced the Dublin experience today.

April 4, 2019

After traveling for 30 hours the boys fully embraced the Dublin experience today. The shock of 10 degrees and a brisk wind was mostly welcomed after being cooped up in cabins for so long. Following our check in at Jacob’s Inn, the boys embarked on a walk past Trinity to Grafton St. Armed with their 10 Euros they were ready to barter for the best bargain to be found in Irish cuisine. However, the reality is most of them settled for a burger having been seduced by the Golden Arches!

Once fed and watered the boys then participated in a training session in Gaelic football and Hurling at St Anne’s Park Clontarf. The sheer size of the park with its 35 playing pitches blew the boys away and cemented their understanding of the popularity of these sports. St Pat’s staff and the specialist coaches were privileged in watching the sheer joy, enthusiasm and sense of fun the boys brought to the training session which was mostly conducted in sleet, drizzle and the occasional silver of sunshine.

A special thanks to Gerrard, Will, Kevin and Tom for kindly giving up their time to train our boys in all things Irish sports.

And a round drinks to the QANTAS staff who pulled out all stops to ensure our two birthday boys, Josh and Jamie, were spoilt with a trip to the QANTAS Dreamliner’s cockpit.

The day finished off with a lovely meal at Il Vignardo and the boys happy to go to bed at 7.00 following a mammoth 48 hours.
