December 16, 2021
Three St Patrick’s College students recorded Academic Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores of 99 and over in the VCE results released today.
Jack Sheehan led the way with an exceptional score of 99.85 whilst Connor Gaffney achieved 99.8 and Hugh Ollerenshaw 99.35.
In all, twenty-nine St Patrick’s College students recorded Academic Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores over 80, including eleven students who achieved an ATAR score of 90 and above.
Principal, Mr Steven O’Connor is thrilled with the school’s results after what has been a challenging year due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
“The staff at St Patrick’s are very pleased for our VCE students, particularly those in Year 12 who have been significantly challenged over the course of the last two years in terms of their schooling,” he said.
“It has been a tough road for all students across the State and in this sense, I am really proud of the achievements of the students from St Pat’s. Our College Dux, Jack Sheehan recorded an ATAR of 99.85, which is remarkable and reflects the hard work and dedication that Jack – and so many others – displayed, despite the impact of the pandemic!”
Mr O’Connor hailed the achievements of every student who achieved their personal best.
“With three boys achieving an ATAR of 99+ and nearly 30% of our boys achieving solid ATARs in the 80s and 90s, there is much to celebrate. This is a pleasing outcome and will allow many of them to pursue their future goals beyond the College. Many boys achieved personal best results and we are proud of these as well,” he said.
“I want to thank the staff of St Patrick’s for their hard work and dedication and the support given to the boys from their parents and families!”
Acting Deputy Principal, Mr Hamish McCrum also paid tribute to the student’s resilience and dedication.
“We’re delighted to see the hard work of our high achieving students rewarded,” he said.
A study score of 50 represents the highest mark achievable within the VCE for any particular subject. In 2021, this extraordinary result was achieved by St Patrick’s College two students – Jack Sheehan for Literature and Year 11 student Matthew Jones for Further Mathematics.
