Old Boys in the News – October 2024

Our Old Boys have been in the spotlight, including:

Matt Short has been busy promoting this year’s Peach’s Run, in memory of fellow Old Boy James Petrie, on his social media lately.

  • Old Collegian and Australian cricketer Matt Short (SPC 2008-13) has been named ambassador of this year’s Peach’s Run, held in memory of fellow Old Boy James Petrie (SPC 2001-06). Matt, who represented Australia in the one-day internationals in England recently, has been busy promoting the fundraising event, which will be held on Saturday 9 November. You can join Matt and show your support by walking or running Lake Wendouree or conquering 33 laps as a team while supporting local mental health and youth engagement in the Ballarat community. Nigel Rendell, who is being treated for a rare form of cancer, is promoting Run4Geelong via his social media as well.
  • We urge you to also get behind and support Old Collegian Nigel Rendell (SPC 1994-96) who is promoting this year’s Run4Geelong event on Sunday 10 November, raising vital funds in support of Barwon Health cancer services. Nigel was diagnosed with rare Mantle Cell cancer in 2023 and is one of the youngest Australians to be diagnosed with the disease. Nigel is keen to give back to the Barwon in Geelong, where he receives his world-class cancer treatment. You can walk or run alongside Nigel’s Team Rendell on Sunday 10 November or donate to Nigel’s efforts by heading to run4geelong.com.au and searching ‘Team Rendell’.
